No new Covid patients today – Operations Centre
ECONOMYNEXT – No new COVID-19 patients were reported in Sri Lanka as at 6 am today (Sep 08), the government said.
Yesterday two patients were identified from quarantine centres control by tri-forces, who were returnees from abroad.
The total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country is 3,123, and with one new recovery as at 6 a.m. today the total number recovered has increased to 2,926.
The total number reported from the Kandakadu cluster is 640 with 519 being detainees, while 67 staff members, five invited staff members, one close contact of the patient-reported from Welikada prison and 48 other close contacts of the patients.
The NOCPOC said that 20 people arrived this morning on special flights from Doha, Qatar and all of whom were directed to the quarantine centres controlled by the tri-forces.
A total of 6,624 people are currently under quarantine in 63 quarantine centres, island-wide.
The NOCPOC said 1625 new PCR tests were conducted on Sep 07 and 241,631 PCR tests had been conducted so far in the country.
A total of 331 had concluded their quarantine process at the military-run centres by 6 am today morning, NOCPOC said, bringing the total number of completed quarantines in Sri Lanka to 38,790.
