Not bound to honour any agreements signed before 16 Nov-Sajith
NDF Presidential Candidate Sajith Premadasa is saying that he is not bound to honour any agreements that were signed by the current or former governments.
“I will be appointed on November 16 and I will abide by agreements that I enter into after that,” he said.
Premadasa said he made this statement to the Mahanayake of the Asgiriya Chapter Warakagoda Sri Gnanaratana Thero this morning (31 Oct) after presenting his election manifesto to him.
He also said that he would review all agreements and would make amendments to any deal or clause that could have any harmful effects on the country
He added that he is only bound to carry on the agreements that have a positive impact on the country
Premadasa also said he would especially reconsider the ACSA agreement which was signed by the previous government as they have found that it has caused some harmful effects to the country.
He said, “none of the local, intermediate or foreign party can control me, I’m not bound to anyone to follow their agendas.”
Further, he said that he would not be a puppet of any party or of any foreign country and that he is only bound to the people of the country.
Deputy leader of UNP also said that other candidates or groups under them have some sort of connection with the foreign countries, ” But I don’t have any such connection with any country,” he added. “My only hope is to unite all the communities living within the country,”
