Number of vacancies in schools become known for the first time
Applicants seeking school admission can now know the number of vacancies available in the school for the first time, Minister Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said today (3 July).
The Ministry has taken this decision considering the number of requests it receives a day regarding the admission of students for government schools.
Accordingly, from this year, when applying for admission to intermediate grades (Grades other than 1, 5 and 6), students and parents will now be able to know the number of vacancies that exist in their preferred school.
Although students were admitted for intermediate grades every year, this is the first time that the number of vacancies are made known to the applicants, the Minister said.
