Pakistan sending disaster relief to Sri Lanka
ECONOMYNEXT – Pakistan is in touch with Sri Lanka to provide relief goods, acting High Commission Sarfraz Ahmad Khan Sipra said as torrential rain with the start of the monsoon killed over 100 people in landslides.
"Pakistan is standing shoulder to shoulder with the Sri Lankan people in these times of grief and suffering," the High Commission said in a statement.
"In this context, the High Commission of Pakistan is in constant touch with Sri Lankan Authorities to finalize the required relief goods as they have requested…"
The floods came with an end of one of the worst droughts in recent memory.
In April, Pakistan gifted 10,000 metric tonnes to help drought victims.
