Pakistan sends flood relief, field hospital to Sri Lanka
ECONOMYNEXT – Pakistan has sent flood relief and a field hospital staffed with doctors to Sri Lankan flood victims, the country’s embassy in Colombo said.
Two cargo aircraft will deliver emergency relief to Sri Lanka’s national disaster management office.
The 30-bed field hospital is equipped with operation theatres, X-ray systems, medicines, electricity generators, tarpulins and tents.
"Pakistan being a close regional ally has offered condolences to the Government and people of Sri Lanka over the loss of precious lives and the displacement of more than 400,000 people due to the devastating floods and the record rainfall in Sri Lanka," the statement said.
The embassy said Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had directed authorities to provide emergency relief to Sri Lanka.
