ECONOMYNEXT – The Secretary to the Ministry of Defense Major General Kamal Guneratne is claiming that the combination of the Security Forces, the Administrative service and the Health Service has been able to control the COVID 19 pandemic in Sri Lanka.
Addressing a press conference in Colombo today June 16, Guneratne said that while more powerful countries have been “brought to their knees by this disease Sri Lanka has been able to stand on it own two feet.”
He credited President Gotabaya Rajapaksa for setting up a committee to deal with the onset of COVID 40 days before the first Sri Lankan patient was detected.
“It was his vision that brought the Armed Forces and the SLAS and the Health Service together,” he said.
He complimented the Army for doing yeoman service running the Quarantine Camps around the country. (Colombo, June 16, 2020)
