There will be more rain in the Northern, Eastern, North-Central and Uva provinces from tomorrow evening, the Meteorology Department says.
Western, North-western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as Galle and Matara districts, will have showers after 1:00 pm
“The General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers” the Met Department warned.
Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) reported that 8,285 people belonging to 1,923 families were affected by the weather in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Kegalle, Rathnapura, Badulla, Puttalam, Kurunegala, Hambantota and Gampaha districts.
DMC further mentioned that, 53 houses have been partially damaged while 3 houses have been completely destroyed in the subsequent flooding.
A total number of 1,661 people from 374 families have been relocated to 3 safe locations, the DMC said.
Later on, DMC warned residents residing near Dunemala should take precautions as the Attanagalu Oya has reached a higher level.
