Rulers will become servants; Sajith at launch of manifesto
Sajith Premadasa is promising to transform Sri Lanka into a country where the rulers will be public servants working to improve the lives of its citizens.
At an event held in Kandy this morning Oct 31, to release his election manifesto, Premadasa said that he will usher in an era “in which the common people will reign after November 16.”
The manifesto entitled ‘Sajith Social Revolution’ lays out a Social Democratic plan, many parts of which have been announced piecemeal over the past month.
Premadasa went on to that the manifesto gives priority to developing the Human Resources of the country and promised that this will see the launch of a revolutionary socio-economic and political agenda that will give priority to the citizens of the country.
Further, he said the manifesto lays out a programme that will ensure that Sri Lanka will not be beholden to another country.
The main goal of this journey he said is to bring prosperity to the motherland and to create this prosperity in a way which it would get equally divided among every citizen.
Further, he said that they put a stop to the loss of economic strength due to corruption and fraud.
He also said in order to ensure national security he will engage all the soldiers who defeated terrorism and that he will give leadership to them.
Premadasa also said that he will not allow any kind of extremism.
“Through national unity, reconciliation and friendship, we will exercise maximum devolution in united Sri Lanka and make the country’s unity, sovereignty, territorial integrity, not only the words of the Constitution but in action.”
