Runaway Covid patient comes back to hospital
ECONOMYNEXT – The COVID-19 infected patient who ran away from the Ragama hospital this morning (07), has been re-admitted the National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 (NOCPOC) said.
Police had found him near the Out-Patients Department of the Ragama hospital this afternoon.
The Police Media unit said that the 62 -year-old patient, a resident of Peliyagoda, had come to the Ragama hospital requesting a PCR test and subsequently tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
By the time health officials tried to reach him to obtain information for contact tracing purposes, the patient was missing from the hospital, Col Vijitha Hettiarachchi of the NOCPOC said.
The patient does not belong to the Brandix cluster or any cluster identified so far, he added.
