Ruwan Wijewardene appointed Sri Lanka’s acting defence minister

ECONOMYNEXT  – Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena who is on an overseas visit had appointed Ruwan Wijewardene as acting minister of defence, the state information office said.

Wijewardene is now the state minister for defence.

President Sirisena left on a visit to China.
 
In the wake of Easter Sunday bombings, there has been criticism that no acting defence minister was appointed while President Sirisena was visiting Singapore. (Colombo/May09/2019)
