ECONOMYNEXT-Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa is proposing that the government involve a selected foreign investigative team to work with local authorities to find the real mastermind behind the Easter Sunday attack.
Speaking in Parliament today he said that the Report from the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCol) on the Easter Sunday Attack which has been given to Parliament is half the report where part of it has been released and another part is hidden in the name of National Security.
“In the American 9/11 report nothing was hidden, today it is even available in the book shops to purchase,” he said.
He said the ones who planned the Easter Sunday attack along with the mastermind behind the attack should be revealed.
Further, he said the National Security Council which exists in the structure where decisions related to national security is taken, should be given legal stability.
“We believe that legal stability should be given to this National Security Council,” he said.
He proposed that the government through a parliament act should legally strengthen the National Security Council, “To make the informal methods, formal,” he said,
Moreover, he said that the national security structure in which parts are spread everywhere should be brought together and centralised
Also, Premadasa proposed an Integrated Threat Assessment Centre, which will collect all the intelligence information into one centre and share them with relevant authorities.
“National security is not only military security, but it is also about economic security and social security, from all these sectors we should ensure our national security,” he added. (Colombo/Mar25/2021)
