Seven killed in motor accidents yesterday
Six road accidents that occurred across the island claimed seven lives yesterday (14).
Two people were killed in Gokarella last night when two people who were crossing the road were hit by a van. The deceased have been identified as 63 and 87-year-old residents of Gokarella.
A five-year-old was killed in Kurienkeni, Kinniya when a van which was near a house moved and knocked down the child. The child has succumbed to injuries upon admission to Kinniya hospital.
One person has been killed in an accident in Kuruwita last night. The accident has occurred when a private bus which came along Ratnapura-Colombo road collided with a motorcycle when the bus attempted to overtake another vehicle. The deceased was a 19-year-old who was on the motorbike.
A six-year-old has been killed in Kalpitiya last afternoon when the rider allegedly lost control of his speeding motorbike. the two-wheeler was headed towards Kalpitiya veered off the road and knocked down a girl, a boy and another woman. The six-year-old girl has succumbed to injuries upon admission to Kalpitiya hospital.
One died in an accident in Anuradhapura last afternoon. The accident has occurred when a car moving towards Anuradhapura knocked down a woman pedestrian. The deceased has been identified as a 72-year-old resident of Elayapaththuwa.
An elderly man was killed in an accident in Pitigala police division last afternoon. The accident has occurred when two people going on a push cycle fell from the bike. One of the persons who sustained injuries succumbed to injuries upon admission to the hospital. The deceased has been identified as an 83-year-old resident of Godamuna.
