Seventy Covid-19 positive cases now in the Minuwangoda, Divulapitiya and Veyangoda areas – officials
ECONOMYNEXT – The Covid Prevention Task Force is investigating three-clusters of possible Covid patients related to the discovery of a patient in Divulapitiya and as of now 69 cases have been discovered in these areas officials said.
Colonel Media of the Sri Lanka Army Col Vijitha Hettiarachchi told EconomyNext today the clusters are, the Brandix Cluster, where the patient was working, the Gampaha Hospital where she was warded for a respiratory ailment and her home village in the Divulapitiya area.
“We have tested 80 people who had direct contact with the first patient and 68 have been shown as positive for Covid-19,” Hettiarachchi who speaks for the National Operations Centre for Prevention of Covid-19 said.
All the patients were corworkers of the factory the patient was working.
The total from this outbreak is 70 with the first patient and her teenaged daughter, he said.
“We hope to do around one thousand PCR tests in these cluster areas today,” he added.
The towns of Minuwangoda, Divulapitiya and Veyangoda are under Police curfews he added.
