Showery conditions to continue in the next few days
The prevailing showery conditions across the island are expected to continue in the next few days, the Department of Meteorology said today (02).
Showers or thundershowers will occur in the Northern, North-central, Eastern and Uva provinces today and in other areas after 1 pm.
Heavy showers of about 100 to 150 mm are likely in parts of the Northern and Eastern provinces, particularly in the Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu and Trincomalee districts.
Fairly heavy falls about 75 to 100 mm are likely in the Central, Uva, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces and the Kalutara and Anuradhapura districts, the Met Department added.
Meanwhile, according to the situation report issued by the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), the water level of the Attanagalu Oya has reached the minor flood level in the Dunmale area.
The water level of the Kalu river has also reached the alert level in the Millakanda area, the DMC added.
