Sirimal Fernando heads Sri Lanka Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Association

ECONOMYNEXT- Sirimal Fernando was re-elected the President of the Sri Lanka Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Association (SLPMA) at its annual general meeting held on July 25, a statement from the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce said.

 
Fernando, the Deputy Managing Director of Astron Ltd, was unanimously elected as President while Rohan Wetthasingha, Director of Lina Pharmaceutical Manufacturing (Pvt) Ltd was re-elected as the Vice President of the Association for the year 2019/20.
 
The SLPMA consists of local firms that manufacture and supply pharmaceuticals and devices to the government, domestic private sector and export markets. 
 
In his address, Fernando outlined the vision of the SLPMA which is to promote the efficiency of the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry in order to ensure pharmaceuticals and devices of the highest quality are readily available.
 
 He said the mission of the Association is to make every endeavor to maintain and enhance the reputation of the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry and to contribute to public health and welfare and to assist & co-operate with the government and relevant authorities to develop the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals & devices in Sri Lanka.
