Sri Lanka awards concessions to build airport hotels
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Thilanka Hotel (Pvt) Ltd and Striders Corporation group, has won the concessions to build and operate two airport hotels, the state information office said.
The two hotels will be built near Sri Lanka’s Katunayake international airport.
State-run Airport and Aviation Services Pvt Ltd, had required private operators to build a 4-star and 2-star hotel to house airline crew members, transit passengers and offloaded passengers, the civil aviation ministry had said earlier.
Each hotel will get 1.25 hectares of land on a 40-year renewable lease.
The winning bidders have to build a hotel with 100 rooms each. (Colombo/July26/2018)
