Sri Lanka busts ATM scam in Colombo, two Chinese nationals arrested
ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka has busted an international racket where Chinese nationals were skimming data off automated teller machines in Colombo, police said.
Police arrested two Chinese nationals who were in the process of removing data skimming devices at several banks in Colombo’s Galle Road and Nawam Mawatha.
Bank officials had found closed circuit television footage of the perpetrators fixing the devices and alerted the police.
Police had tracked the two Chinese nationals and arrested them while they were removing the devices.
Police said they also found electronic data cards, a laptop computer, Renminbi notes, US dollars and Sri Lankan money with the suspects.
