Sri Lanka CB Governor Coomaraswamy formally appointed
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena formally appointed Indrajit Coomaraswamy, a respected economist as Central Bank Governor on July 04.
The appointment ends market uncertainty with the institution operating headless on Friday.
There are also hopes of better policy coming out of the agency. The Central Bank is the only agency in the country that has a monopoly on money and the only agency that generate inflation and currency depreciation.
