Sri Lanka commissions 10MW solar power plant

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has commissioned a 10 MegaWatt solar power plant to the national grid which can generate up to 19 million unit of of electricity a year.
Sagasolar Power Pvt Ltd in a unit of Sri Lanka’s LOLC group which has a 50.1 percent stake.
The solar farm will was designed to have 48,000 Polycrystalline solar panels with construction costs estimated at 2.5 billion rupees.
It is located Buruthakanda, Hambantota, a area where sunlight is available with the least cloud cover.
The wind far is expected to generate and sell about 19Giga Watt hours of electricity a year to state-run Ceylon Electricity Board.
