ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has confirmed 263 new Coronavirus cases on October 25 taking the total to 7,784, the health ministry said, with more suburbs of Colombo coming under curfews Sunday.
Curfews were imposed on Colombo Fort, Borella and Welikada suburbs of the capital Colombo Sunday.
Depending on an analysis of confirmed case curfews in some ares could be lifted Sri Lanka’s military chief Shavendra Silva said.
Sri Lanka is allowing residents in the Gampaha district to visit shops and pharmacies on Monday.
“We appeal only one or two persons to walk to the nearest shop and avoid any gatherings,” he said in a recorded message.
Sri Lanka’s postal service said it would stop delivering letters to the Western province.
Curfews in Beruwala, Paiyagala and Aluthgama, would also continue and would not be lifted on Monday at 0500hours as previously planned, the state information office said.
