Sri Lanka Coronavirus curfew in Homagama, Panadura, Moratuwa, 457 new Covid-19 cases
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has imposed Coronavirus curfew in Homagama, Moratuwa, Panadura North and Panadura South police areas as 457 new Coronavirus cases and 03 deaths on October 27.
The curfew will be in effect until further notice, the state information office said.
A 19-year old special needs teenager and the other 87 year old were dead on admission, reports said.
“Both these were reported as sudden deaths,” Sri Lanka’s Health Ministry spokesman Jayaruwan Bandara told reporters.
“They were confirmed with Covid-19 after testing samples. Over the last few days six deaths has been reported. This is a dangerous situation, so always work keeping in mind that there is danger ahead.”
Sri Lanka has seen 06 deaths in the new cluster taking the total to 19.
Sri Lanka cremates all Coronavirus and suspected deaths including Muslims and Christians though World Health Organization permits burial under health rules.
Sri Lanka this week gave up on institutionalized quarantine and started home quarantining first contacts, in a departure from previous practice.
Deputy Inspector General Ajith Rohana said going out of a quarantined house, entering such a house or assisting in such acts will be considered an offence.
Several officers from police canteens who went to purchase fish from the Peliyagoda fish market had also contracted the disease.
About 300 policemen are quarantined, he said.
