Sri Lanka Coronavirus deaths rise to 61, new Covid-19 cases 382

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Coronavirus deaths rose to 61 with three elderly persons passing away and health authorities confirmed another 382 new Covid-19 cases taking the total in the country so far to 17,674.

An 84-year old female from Moratuwa had died at home. She was a diabetic and had contracted Coronavirus.

A 70-year old make from Colombo 10 had died at the Infections Disease Hospital in Colombo where he was treated for Coronavirus. He had chronic kidney disease and had suffered a stroke.

A 75-year old from Colombo 13 had died on admission to Colombo General Hospital. His diabetes had worsened and he also had a congenital heart disease.

Sri Lanka was treating 5,807 persons in hospital and parts of Colombo and Gampaha are under lockdown. About 11,800 persons had recovered.

Large parts of Sri Lanka’s capital Colombo are under lockdown after congested areas were struck with Covid-19.

Haritha Aluthge from Sri Lanka’s Government Medical Officers Association urged residents of Colombo not to travel outside into other provinces as the Colombo Municipal area in particular was a high risk area though movement restriction were lifted on Sunday night. (Colombo/Nov17/2020)
