ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka will remove isolation from Colombo Fort, Borella, Slave Island, Wellampitiya, Ja-Ela and Kadawatha from 0500 hours Monday, but will immediately isolate some areas in Kaluthara, the state information office said.
Bogawatte, Bamunugama, Bamunugama (Muslim), Korawala, Atalugama and Galagahamandiya grama niladari areas would be isolated with immediate effect.
In the Borella police area, Wanathamulla and in Slave Island the Wekanda, grama niladari division would remain closed.
The following police areas in Colombo remain isolated : Mattakkuliya, Modera, Bloemendhal, Kotahena, Grandpass, Foreshore, Aduruppu Street, Maligawatte, Dematagoda, Kesellwatte, Maradana, Pettah and Dam Street.
The following areas in Gampaha will remain isolated: Negombo, Ragama, Wattala, Peliyagoda, Kelaniya.
Overnight 9 people were confirmed death with Coronavirus taking the total to 83, with 487 new Covid-19 cases being confirmed, the state information office said.
A 57 year old male from Colombo 02 had died at the National Hospital in Colombo. He had developed
pneumonia after contracting Covid-19 had has had infection shock.
A 65 year old from Wellampitiya had dined at the National Hospital in Colombo. He had high blood pressure, diabetes and had contracted Covid-19.
An 98 year old male from Dematagoda had died at the Colombo National Hospital. He had Covid-19 pneumonia.
A 48-year old female from Colombo 10 had passed away at home. She had a Covid-19 related heart attack.
A 72 year old male from Colombo 10 had passed away at home. He had, high blood pressure, diabetes and had died of a heart attack linked to Covid-19.
A 69-year old female from Colombo 13 had died at home. She has had a heart attack linked to Covid-19.
A 76-year old male from Wellawatte had died at the Infectious Disease Hospital. He had been transferred from the Colombo National Hospital after being confirmed with Covid-19.
A 75-year old female from Wellampitiya had died. She had been confirmed with Covid-19 at the Colombo National Hospital and had been transferred to Homagama Hospital. She had Covid-19 linked pneumonia.
A-76 year old female had died at the IDH after being transferred from a private hospital after being confirmed with Covid-19. She had pneumonia and septicemia. Her residency was not given.
Sri Lanka has also confirmed 487 new Coronavirus cases domestically on November 21. Authorities insist that there is no community transmission including in Colombo. A total of 491 were confirmed along with returnees according health ministry data.
Most of the deaths are being reported from congested areas which have been locked down. Sri Lanka cremates dead Muslim and Christian victims of Coronavirus though World Health Organization rules allow burials. (Colombo/Nov21/2020)
