Sri Lanka court suspends enjoining order issued against Russian Aeroflot flight

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Commercial High Court of the Western Province on Monday (06) suspended an enjoining order issued against the Russian Aeroflot flight from departing Sri Lanka, sources said.

The court will decide whether or not to issue an interim injunction, the sources added.

The aircraft was grounded in Colombo following a court order obtained by Celestial Aviation Trading 10 Limited of Ireland, the owner of the aircraft, against Aeroflot in a Colombo court, over a lease dispute.

Last Thursday (02), the Western Province Commercial High Court issued the enjoining order on the Aeroflot flight preventing it from taking off from the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

The case relates to a commercial dispute between the plaintiff Celestial Aviation Trading 10 Limited, an Irish company, against the first defendant the Public Joint Stock Company “Aeroflot” and the second defendant, N C Abeywardene, Acting Head of Air Navigation/Airport and Aviation Services of Sri Lanka (AASL), Katunayake.
