Sri Lanka cuts petrol to Rs125 a litre, diesel Rs101
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka is cutting the price of a litre of petrol to 125 rupees a litre from 135 rupees, with a pricing formula coming back into, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said in parliament.
Petrol 95-Octane has been cut to Rs149 from Rs159 a litre.
Auto Diesel has been cut to Rs 101 from Rs106 a litre.
Super Diesel has been cut to Rs121 from Rs 131 a lire.
No mention was made of kerosene which is the most expensive fuel to import but was sold at 70 rupee a litre.
Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera said when the formula was introduced he promised that prices will come down, when world prices fell. (Colombo/Dec21/2018)
