ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has cut the price diesel by 10 rupees to 430 rupees a litre while petrol 92-Octane remains at 450 rupees a litre, state-run Ceylon Petroleum Corporation said.
Petrol 95 Octane/Euro 4 remains at 540 rupees a litre.
Super diesel 4 start/Euro 4 remains at 510 rupees a litre.
Subsidised kerosene remains at 87 rupees a litre.
Kerosene which is similar to Jet fuel is usually the most expensive to import, diesel next and petrol is the cheapest to import.
However in Sri Lanka due to mis-pricing of diesel over petrol over many decades, the more polluting diesel is widely used for goods transport in particular. (Colombo/Aug02/2022)
