Sri Lanka ex-deputy central bank Governor C P J Siriwardana passes away
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s central bank said C P J Siriwardana, a former Deputy Governor had passed way at the age of 62 on February 24, the monetary authority said.
Siriwardana was Deputy Governor of the Central Bank from 2017 to 2018.
As the Deputy Governor he supervised the departments of Bank Supervision, Supervision of Non-Bank Financial Institutions, Public Debt, Payments and Settlements, Finance, Secretariat, Information Technology and Security Services.
He had also been Assistant Governor in charge of Public Debt, Information Technology, Legal and Compliance, Macro prudential Surveillance, Human Resources, Policy Review and Monitoring, Payments and Settlement and Risk Management Department..
Siriwardana had headed the National Payment Council, Financial System Stability Committee and Tender Boards of Treasury Bonds & Treasury Bills in addition to being a member of the Monetary Policy Committee, Inter Regulatory Institutions Committee and Non- Financial Risk Management Committee.
He was degree holder in Quantitative Development Economics from the University of Warwick, UK and in Agriculture from the University of Ruhuna.
His remains lie at Jayaratne funeral parlour from 1500 p.m.. Cremation will be at the General Cemetery, Borella at 1730p.m. on February 26, 2021. (Colombo/ Feb 25/2021)
