Sri Lanka had prior information on impending attacks: PM
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka had prior information on the possibility of an attack but he and the cabinet had not been adequately informed, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe said.
"A serious issue is that though information been received earlier not enough attention had been paid," Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said.
"We have to look deeper into this. Also related is that myself or minister had not been adequately informed. But the first task is to make sure that the country is not de-stabilized and stability is maintained.
Earlier in the day Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando said while there appeared to be some impending attacks on Churches there was no information on hotel attacks.
He said security forces were on alert. (Colombo/Apr21/2019-SB)
