Sri Lanka imposes curfew in riot-hit town, blocks social media
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s government imposed a curfew in the central hill country town of Kandy Wednesday and blocked social media sites using hate speech against minority Muslims who have been victims of violence in recent days, a spokesman said.
Health minister Rajitha Senaratne said the curfew had been imposed to prevent the further spred of violence.
The telecommunications regulator has blocked social media sites and access to Facebook in Kandy, he said.
