Sri Lanka lifts ban on liquor sales to women
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s government has removed a ban on sale of liquor to women in retails outlets and employment of women in bars.
Minister of Finance Mangala Samaraweera has revoked the prohibition on selling liquor to women and employing women in places where liquor is manufactured or sold, the Ministry Finance and Mass Media said in a statement.
Samaraweera had signed an excise notification gazette extraordinary under the Excise Ordinance.
