Sri Lanka LP gas prices hiked 17-pct

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has raised the price of domestic liquefied gas by 17 percent to 1,676 rupees for a 12.5 kilogram cylinder, as costs rose petroleum prices rising and a sharp depreciation of the currency over the last two years.

State-run Litro Gas said Sri Lanka’s Consumer Affairs Authority had given approval for the price increase.

Laugfs Gas, a private distributor also hiked the price to 1,676 rupees a cylinder.

The price of a 5 kilogram cylinder had been raised by 64 rupees to 606 rupees. (Colombo/Apr27/2018)
