Sri Lanka May 2016 tea crop down 06-pct
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s tea production in May 2016 fell almost six percent to 30.6 million kilos from a year ago largely owing to drought, brokers said.
The worst hit was the low growns sector, which accounts for the bulk of crop, with mid-grown also down while high grows gained slightly.
Forbes & Walker Tea Brokers said that January – May cumulative production for 2016 of 128.2 million kilos was down 15.2 million kilos from the same 2015 period.
