Sri Lanka nation-wide inflation accelerates to 5.3-pct in May 2016
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s consumer prices nation-wide rose 5.3 percent in May 2016 from a year ago, accelerating from 4.3 percent in April, its fourth straight monthly rise, the statistics department said.
On month-on-month basis, the new National Consumer Price Index (NCPI), compiled using prices collected from all nine provinces with a base year of 2013, rose 1.9 percent in May, up from 1.5 percent in April after having fallen 0.7 percent in March.
It was the highest point-to-point inflation since May 2015.
