ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Navy said it had arrested a suspected foreign fishing vessel without a flag in the seas of Galle, with 60 kilograms of drugs on board.
The vessel had no registration markings and had no flag, the Navy said.
It may have been working in concert with a Sri Lankan drug runner arrested earlier.
The Navy said it suspected a "Sri Lankan Multi-day Fishing Boat apprehended yesterday off Galle along with 04 crew members and narcotic samples onboard also has link with the fishing vessel that was taken under custody…"
Sri Lanka Navy had also found caches of soft-drugs like cannabis being smuggled into north and east of the country. (Colombo/July12/2019)
