Sri Lanka Orion City to expand with new tower
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Orion City IT Park is to be expanded with a 22-floor Orion Towers to be built that will include office space as well as malls, restaurants, hospitality services and gyms.
The new project is envisaged as a ‘city-within-a-city’ and cater to the growing information communications technology businesses in the island.
The developmental master plan of the Orion City IT Park “envisions for its partners a one-stop hub for innovation and collaboration in a space custom designed for business and personal needs,” a statement said.
“A boutique hotel and green eco-decks will also occupy the approximately 350,000 square feet of rentable area in the 22-floor building.”
Orion Development built Sri Lanka’s first IT Park in 2009 aiming to offer built-to-specification commercial and office infrastructure.
Orion City was recently awarded a LEED Silver certification as recognition for building practices and strategies.
The company said it will target a LEED Gold certification with Orion Towers, with its first phase slated for completion in 2017.
Orion City currently extends across a 16-acre property with 550,000 square feet of built up space housing over 6,000 people.
