Sri Lanka overcame hostile forces due to the bravery of troops -Sirisena
President Maithripala Sirisena said it was because of the dedication by brave troops that Sri Lanka has been able to overcome forces hostile to the country it at all times.
President made these remarks at the passing out ceremony held at the Special Task Force (STF) Training School in Katukurunda last Friday (05 Oct)
A total of 274 officers including 50 inspectors, 183 constables and 41 women constables who successfully completed the 76th basic training course at Katukurunda training school were discharged.
Further, the President said that although there are various allegations levelled against the public servants, the STF can be identified as a force who have not been subjected to any kind of such allegations.
He also added that STF was established in 1983 as there was a need of a special armoured police group to tackle the anti-government and terrorism that rose in the Eastern and Northern areas of the country.
