Sri Lanka port doctor and 50 workers quarantined over Covid-19 India crew
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has quarantined a doctor at Colombo port and around 50 workers who had come into contact with the crew of an Indian oil tanker who had tested positive to Coronavirus, a military official said.
JCT workers had come into contact with the 17-member Indian oil tanker crew when they carried out inspection on the ship off Colombo’s Harbour, Army Media Spokesman Colonel Vijitha Hettiarachchi said.
However, the infected patient was only found when the oil tanker docked at the Trincomalee port.
Only one crew member had been tested positive and the others had left the country he said.
Newswire.lk, a online portal quoted Army Chief Shavendra Silva as saying that the any community spread had been arrested with family members of port workers also isolated.
