ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka Ports Authority has posted pre-tax profits of 4.99 billion rupees up to April 2021, and 20.3 billion rupees in 2020, a Finance Ministry report said.
Up to April 2021, 1,3030 vessels have called at Colombo, Galle and Trincomlaee, which was up 35
percent from last year.
Over 700,000 twenty foot equivalent containers were handled up to April, which was also up 35 percent from last year.
SLPA revenues had grown 23 percent to 17,024 million rupees, up to April 2021.
Expenditure had grown at a slower 10 percent to 10,549 million rupees. The profit before tax was 4,993 million rupees, up from 4,575 million last year.
SLPA had foreign debt of 55.09 billion rupees and local debt of 8,795 million rupees.
In 2020, the SLPA had earned pre-tax profits of 20.3 billion rupees, up from 16.1 billion in 2019. (Colombo/Aug02/2021)
