Sri Lanka Ports Authority to call bids for pilot boats
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka Ports Authority is to call for international bids to buy two pilot boats for Colombo port the projects, a government spokesman said.
The SLPA has allocated Rs500 million to buy the pilot boats which are required to improve pilot service for ships calling Colombo port which is getting busier with growing volumes of container traffic.
The proposal to buy the boats by Ports and shipping Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe was approved by the Cabinet of ministers this week, Gayantha Karunathilaka, Minister of Land and Parliamentary Reforms told a news conference.
