Sri Lanka President says will appoint new central bank governor in hours

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s President Maithripala Sirisena said in a tweet that a new Central Bank Governor will be appointed within the day.
"I will appoint a new Governor to the Central Bank in the coming hours," President Sirisena said in a twitter message.
The term of controversial Governor Arjuna Mahendran ends on June 30. There have been warnings that unless a governor is appointed, financial markets may face instability on July 01.
Sri Lanka parliament’s Committee on Public Enterprises is to meet later today on allegations against the Governor Mahendran. (Colombo/June29/2016)
