Sri Lanka promised loans from China-led AIIB at Davos meeting

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe has met the President of China-led Asian Infrastructure Bank Jin Liqun, who expressed readiness to provide funding to the island, a statement said.
Prime Minister Wickramasinghe and Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake had met the AIIB chief on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum at Davos, Switzerland.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s office said AIIB was ready to fund road, rail, ports, airport and urban development.
Sri Lanka is a founder member of the newly-formed AIIB.
