Sri Lanka raises petrol to Rs135 a litre

ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka’s fuel prices will be increased at midnight under the cost-reflective price formula, the Finance Ministry said on Friday.
A litre of 92 Octane petrol will be raised by 3 rupees to 135 rupees, while for 95 Octane petrol, the hike will be 5 rupees to 164 rupees.
The price of Super Diesel will be raised by 2 rupees to 136 rupees a litre, while Auto Diesel prices will remain unchanged.
The government had halted the pricing formula on April 10 ahead of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year festivities, when many Sri Lankans who work away from home return to their families.
The last price change took place on March 10, when 95 Octane was increased by 7 rupees a litre, 90 Octane by 3 rupees a litre, Auto Diesel by 1 rupee a litre and Super Diesel by 8 rupees a litre. (Colombo/May10/2019)
