Sri Lanka reaches the 150,000 mark for PCR Tests – NOCP
ECONOMYNEXT- Sri Lanka has passed the 150,000 mark for PCR tests with 1,380 tests done yesterday, the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 said.
As at 6 a.m., this morning a total of 12 new COVID-19 patients were reported in the island, 5 are detainees reported from the Senapura Rehabilitation Centre (East Kandakadu), one staff member from the Kandakadu Drug Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre, one close contact of the Kandakadu cluster, one is an associate of the infected detainee from the Welikada Prison and 4 returnees from Qatar.
With these 12 new additions, the total number of COVID-19 patients has risen to 2,782 and the number of patients in the Kandakadu cluster has risen to 580, while recoveries have increased to 2,106 with three new recoveries as at 6 a.m. this morning.
A total of 54 people were brought back during the period between yesterday night and this morning, where 1 returned from Dubai and 53 from Doha, all of the returnees was directed to quarantine centres controlled by the tri-forces upon the arrival.
A total of 3,556 are in quarantine in 44 centres controlled by the tri-forces. (Colombo/July27/2020)
