Sri Lanka records eighth death from COVID 19 – Health Ministry
ECONOMYNEXT – The Sri Lanka government has confirmed that an eighth person has died from the COVID 19 disease today May 4.
An announcement from the Ministry of Health said that the deceased was a 72-year old woman from the Polpithigama area in the Kurunegala district.
She had been under treatment at the Homagama hospital which was set aside for COVID 19 patients.
As of this afternoon, Sri Lanka has recorded a total number of 721 confirmed cases of the virus.
There are 519 active cases under treatment and 137 under observation at various hospitals.
Three new cases were reported today and 194 have been discharged after a full recovery. (Colombo May 4, 2020)
