Sri Lanka records sixth Coronavirus death, 38 recover
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has seen the sixth Coronavirus death on April 07, the Director-General of Health Services Dr Anil Jasinghe said.
The deceased was an 80-year-old-male who was warded at the Infectious diseases hospital in Colombo, and a former resident of Dehiwela.
Of the 176 who caught COVID 19, 38 have recovered and discharged from hospital.
Sri Lanka is under a nation-wide curfew to stop community transmission of the virus.
Jasinghe said Monday that a three-wheeler taxi driver had been found infected with the virus.
An infected three-and-a-half-year-old child has also been found, officials said.
Sri Lanka is tracing contacts and quarantining suspected persons. But the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) has said more testing has to be done to prevent leaks and discover infected persons in the community. (Colombo, April 7, 2020)
