Sri Lanka renews efforts to draw British FDI
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s investment promotion office said it is ramping up efforts to draw UK investors and has had talks with the British High Commissioner in Colombo on holding a virtual forum and a possible investment and trade agreement.
A team from Sri Lanka’s Board of Investment led by Director General Sanjaya Mohottala had met the British High Commissioner in Colombo, Sarah Hulton to brief her and request assistance to target UK investors.
“During the meeting arrangements for a proposed virtual Sri Lanka forum to be held was
Discussed,” the BOI said.
“The DG, BOI requested to work towards a bilateral trade agreement between UK & Sri Lanka to
promote more trade & investment.”
The BOI had also sought UK support to promote a textile and fabric park being set up in Eravur in Sri Lanka’s East and a pharmaceutical zone to be set up in Hambantota in the South.
Sri Lanka has controlled the spread of Coronavirus and the public has been asked to wear mask and businesses are operating under health guidelines. (Colombo/Aug26/2020)
