Sri Lanka rupee closes weaker, bond yields flat

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka rupee was quoted weaker at 184.40/65 against the US dollar on Friday while bond yields were flat in moderate market trade, dealers said.

The rupee closed at 184.30/50 to the greenback on Thursday.

In the secondary government securities markets, bond yields were flat in moderate trade, dealers said.

A 2-year bond maturing on 15.12.2022 closed at 5.42/50 per cent on Friday, down from 5.47/53 per cent at Thursday’s closing.

A bond maturing on 15.01.2023 closed at 5.48/55 per cent, down from 5.53/58 per cent at the previous closing.

A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 closed at 6.01/05 per cent on Friday, down from Thursday’s closing at 6.02/08 per cent.

A bond maturing on 01.05.2025 closed at 6.33/37per cent on Friday, down from 6.38/43per cent at the previous day’s closing.

A bond maturing on 01.02.2026 closed at 6.45/50 per cent, down from 6.50/55 per cent at the previous close.

A bond maturing on 15.08.2027 closed at 6.92/95 per cent, down from 6.94/97 per cent at Thursday’s end.

A 10-year bond maturing on 15.05.2030 closed at 7.28/35 per cent, unchanged from 7.28/38 per cent at the previous day’s closing. (Colombo/Aug21/2020)
