Sri Lanka rupee ends weaker in spot next, gilt yields unchanged

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka rupee closed weaker at 188.80/10 to the US dollar on Monday in the spot-next market while gilt yields remained unchanged in dull market trade, dealers said.

The rupee was quoted at 187.80/188.50 to the US dollar on Friday against the US dollar.

In the secondary securities market, bond yields remained unchanged in dull market trade, dealers said.

Yields were seen to be threading slightly lower

A 2-year bond maturing on 15.12.2022 closed flat at 5.67/75 per cent on Monday from Friday’s closing.

A bond maturing on 15.01.2023 closed at 5.73/78 per cent on Monday unchanged from Friday’s closing.

A bond maturing on 15.09.2024 closed flat at 6.42/45 per cent from Friday’s end.

A bond maturing on 01.05.2025 closed flat at 6.50/60 per cent from Friday’s end.

A bond maturing on 01.02.2026 closed flat 6.73/83 per cent on Monday from the previous day’s end.

A bond maturing on 15.08.2027 closed flat 7.15/20 per cent at Friday’s closing.

A bond maturing on 01.07.2028 closed at 7.23/30 per cent, unchanged from the previous day’s end.

A 10-year bond maturing on 15.05.2030 closed at 7.75/90 per cent from Friday’s closing. (Colombo/Dec21/2020)
