Sri Lanka rupee stronger in early trade; stocks open higher
ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s rupee was quoted at 158.60/80 to the US dollar in the spot market in early trade Monday strengthening from Friday’s close while stocks opened higher, dealers and brokers said.
The rupee opened at a158.80/159.10 to the US dollar and rose to 158.60/80 levels in mid-morning trade, dealers said.
The Colombo All Share Index was up 0.17 percent in the first half hour of trading.
Bond markets were also large unchanged from Friday’s close.
A 3-year bond maturing on 01.05.2021 was quoted 9.95/10/05 down from Friday’s 9.95/10.05 percent.
A 5-year bond maturing on 15.03.2023 was quoted 10.43/47 percent down from Friday’s 10.45/48 percent.
A 10-year bond maturing on 01.09.2028 quoted 10.70/78 percent down from Fridays 10.72/78 percent. (Colombo/June24/2018)
