ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has closed schools in the Western and Wayamba provinces until April 30, to contain an outbreak of Coronavirus triggered by a suspected new strain of SARS-Cov-2.
Schools in other provinces were asked to remain open.
On Monday by 952 new cases were reported by 2045hours.
More than 700 cases have been detected each day over the past four days and officials are urging the public to avoid non-essential travel and stay at home.
Sri Lanka’s Foreign Employment Bureau said it was closing the head office in Battaramulla after a Coronavirus infection was detected in staff. (Colombo/April26/2016)
